Utensils Review: Silicone Spatula Set

This week I wanted to do something slightly different. Rather than a book review I wanted to give some insight on my favourite baking utensils.

I have invested much (wasted I should say) on baking and kitchen utensils and they are usually not up to scratch. Branded items seem not to last as long as you would hope (especially for the 300% mark up just for the name tattooed on the item).

So, I decided to try these: Silicone Spatula Set - 6 Piece Non-Stick Rubber Spatula Set with Stainless Steel Core - Brand: EKKONG. Cheap and cheerful! They are £10.99 from Amazon and you can get them same day delivery. I thought £1.85 per item was not a bad deal.

I absolutely love these (to be fair there are many similar at similar prices, I choose these as I love blue and they had amazing reviews). I can confirm the good reviews.

The variation of size really helps with all the different types of bakes; large cakes which need a large spoon/spatula to cupcakes which need a smaller size. This works a treat. They are dishwasher safe so can throw them straight into the dishwasher once used.

They are heat resistant and I have tested this (accidentally by leaving them in a hot pan whilst bringing syrup mixtures to the boil). Even leaving them in hot pans they remain perfect condition. No more melted tips on expensive branded items.

The spatulas are great. I used to use a spoon, but the spatula works amazingly well, Im converted! Scrapes the bowls clean leaving hardly any waste. I would spend ages trying to scrape the last lump of buttercream from the bottom of the bowl or the sides with a spoon.

I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for utensils to bake with. Icysprite Bakes gives this 5 stars and a high recommendation!
