I love Hummingbird Bakery! I mean who doesn’t?? Their red velvet cupcakes are stunning! I was so excited when I got this book years ago as I really wanted to recreate their delicious cakes.

Unfortunately, I did not find this book as inspiring as the actual cakes in the shop. I made the Lemon Doberge cake from the book. It was delicious but did not feel like a Hummingbird Bakery cake. Most of the recipes felt tailored to the US market rather than reflect the bakes found in their UK bakeries.

Also tried the Strawberry Chiffon Pie which did not inspire me to continue to use the book. This book ended up sitting on my shelf and very rarely opened as I felt the recipes were not really something, I would want to eat.

I have other Hummingbird Bakery books which are much better. This did not live up to the hype for me and what I associate Hummingbird Bakery cakes to be. I could not find anything here that I had tried in the shops.

If you want to recreate Hummingbird Bakery at home. This is not the book for you, in my opinion.

This book receives 3 stars. It has lovely pictures for all the recipes but regrettably there are not many recipes in this book that I would want to bake unless I ran out of ideas from all the others…

I would not recommend this book – apologies for anyone who loved this book! Its not a book for my style and taste of bakes, and did not live up to my expectations.
