This week I am reviewing a fancier book in my collection, “Sweet” by Yotam Ottolenghi and Helen Goh.

Sweet Yotam Ottolenghi Helen Goh Book Cover

When I bought this I was worried I wouldn’t be able to make anything from this. This book is more advanced and would not be good for starters. Perhaps because of this, the desserts are amazing. There is variety and many recipes which you do not find in the standard baking books.

If you are looking for something different and a challenge this is the book for you. I actually held off trying recipes from here, thinking I was not up to the level for the bakes. But recently, with more confidence, I have been looking through and have bookmarked many bakes to try.

I love the variety of flavours and combinations of flavours within this book. I give this book 5 stars because of the diversity of bakes and the techniques and flavour combinations you can learn. Every recipe has a corresponding image which it really needs due to the technical requirements of the bakes. The desserts are presented amazingly well I want to try more every time I read it.

There are also some flour-less recipes which helps for those gluten free bakers and eaters.

If I was reviewing this a couple of years ago as a starting baker, I would have given 3 stars; its not for the faint of heart. This is one for a challenge and trying more advanced recipes.

My favourites so far from the book are Chocolate ‘O’ Cookies and the Lemon and Blackcurrant stripe cake!

Five out of Five Stars

Go on give it a go!
