What compelled me to buy this book was the wonderful pictures within. The book; as the title states, truly is a cake journey around the world with amazing imagery and lovely facts about each cake.
I loved reading the history of the cakes and seeing pictures of where they originate from. It really adds a new dimension to the book and baking.
The only issue I had with the book was due to it being a journey around the world, some recipes require different types of baking tins and materials which you would not usually have in your pantry. Whilst the diversity of cakes is to be applauded, it is an awfully expensive book if you wanted to bake everything in there only because you need to buy unique tools.
I would recommend the “Baked Vanilla and Chocolate Cheesecake”, “Tiramisu Cake”, and the “Black Forest Cake” all amazingly tasty and look stunning once made.
I give this book 4 stars, only because of personal reasons as I do not have half the equipment to make some of the cakes!
It is a lovely book to have for a good variation of cakes of all types and flavours. Would recommend this for cake lovers who love to explore and try new things!
